About Us

The Pacific Northwest Chapter was formed in the fall of 2008 to spur development of the clean energy economy in the region.  The Chapter co-chairs are Ashley Henry, William Brent and Ross Macfarlane.  Brief bios are below:
 
Ashley Henry
 
Ashley recently launched Ashley Henry Consulting. She provides strategic marketing and business development services to companies in the clean economy space. Currently, she works with Lane Powell PC and Pivotal Investments. Prior to starting her own business, she served as the Energy Industry Liaison for Stoel Rives LLP where she played a key role in growing the firm's renewable energy practice to one of the best in the nation. Ashley serves on the board of Climate Solutions and is an active civic volunteer. She is also a singer and will be holding a CD release party in Spring 2010 to benefit The Wetlands Conservancy and an organization that provides services to mentally ill children and adults.
 
William Brent
Senior Vice President, Weber Shandwick
 
William founded and leads the Cleantech Practice at Weber Shandwick, providing strategic communications counsel to companies, foundations and NGOs engaged in clean energy, efficiency, water, building, advanced materials, IT, climate and next-generation transportation. William has more than 20 years of experience in media and marketing, as both a journalist and a start-up entrepreneur. Before settling in Seattle, he spent more than 15 years in China, where he remains actively involved in the search for a more sustainable growth trajectory. He blogs at MrCleantech.com
 
Ross Macfarlane
Senior Advisor, Business Partnerships, Climate Solutions

At Climate Solutions, Ross works to forge partnerships with businesses that are seeking to build the clean energy economy in the Pacific Northwest and helps promote strong climate and energy policy.  Ross manages Business Leaders for Climate Solutions, which is a network of more than 500 businesses and executives in the region who are committed to leadership in the clean economy.  Ross brings more than 25 years of experience working on public policy and environmental issues. He was a partner at Preston Gates & Ellis (now K&L Gates) where he managed the environmental law practice and represented a wide range of public and private clients.  Ross was one of the lead drafters for the Washington Climate Action and Green Jobs bill in 2008, which made Washington the fourth state to establish binding limits on global warming pollution, and the first to establish a specific program to train workers for jobs in the clean economy.
